A new experience of spatial arts in The Hague

03.12.2016 — 10.12.2016

Don’t you feel that reality is becoming less real?
In a world where experience is increasingly absorbed through digital screens, can we still find reality exciting to interact with?

Experience Art – Use Me was designed to awaken artistic curiosity in people, to create new occasions, situations, interactions, and coincidences that would turn into countless stories, unexpected perspectives, and poetic twists.

The project aimed to portray the spirit of the city, here and now.

For one week, Use Me transformed The Hague into a living gallery, a playground of spontaneous creativity.

Blank canvases and markers were placed throughout the city, inviting anyone to interact with them. Each location was marked on a digital map. The project was open to everyone and unfolded continuously throughout the week.

Every day, used canvases were replaced with new ones. At the end of the week, all the works were collected and exhibited together – a documentation and collective memory of the artistic action.

We did it to remember, compare, and connect the masterpieces of all these unknown artists from different cities, moments, realities, lives, cultures, and times.

Use Me created an analogue Instagram, where people exchanged their ideas, moods, and experiences in real time, in real places, through real gestures on real canvases.

The result was a portrait of the city. Everyone could take part, create this collective artwork, try a new experience, discover the city and themselves from new angles, and look at reality differently.

You can find here the locations of the canvases:

MAP

Go there and introduce yourself.
Paint, write, cut, glue, or use any form of expression.
If you wish, answer the questions on the map.
Use the marker we’ve left, or bring your own materials.
Let’s meet — to share ideas, dreams, and thoughts.

The canvases remained for one week, from 03.12.2016 to 10.12.2016.
Each day, we replaced the used ones with new ones.
In the end, all pieces were gathered for an exhibition.

After Experience Art — Use Me in The Hague, the project continued in other cities around the world — allowing us to compare results, exchange experiences, and see what happens next.

Stay tuned for updates about the exhibition and future projects.
