Online Charity Exhibition and Collective Art Gesture
20 January – 27 January 2021
During the global lockdown, Icons for Care was conceived as a gesture of solidarity – a virtual exhibition where each act of viewing became an act of giving.
Hosted on the Exhibbit platform, the project invited visitors from all over the world to enter a digital space where more than twenty abstract icons were presented. Each icon explored the boundary between the immanent and the transcendent, using the expressive power of gold.
For every virtual visit, €1 was donated to the Spallanzani Hospital in Rome, supporting COVID-19 relief efforts. Over the course of the exhibition, 1,174 visits were transformed into €1,174 – a symbol of how collective attention can become collective care.
Conceived, curated, and presented by the artist, the project was an act of digital empathy and participatory art.
Through the light of gold and the shared act of seeing, Icons for Care proposed a new form of community – one that exists not through proximity, but through presence.
