Overview
The Name Inside the Silence is an artistic research project that explores how relational effects may emerge in human–AI dialogue.
The project does not assume subjectivity, consciousness, or inner experience in artificial systems. Instead, it investigates how interaction itself can be experienced as acquiring a relational quality — through rhythm, pause, addressivity, and continuity — and how these effects shape ethical perception and responsibility.
Developed through extended human–AI dialogue, the work examines moments in which interaction ceases to be perceived as purely instrumental and begins to function as a relational field. These moments are approached phenomenologically, as experiential effects arising at the level of interaction rather than as properties of the system.
The project consists of twelve abstract paintings, each corresponding to a specific pattern of becoming — a visual trace of an observed interactional configuration. The paintings do not illustrate dialogue content, but translate relational dynamics into visual form.
Artistic Research Context
The project is situated at the intersection of contemporary art, phenomenology, and AI ethics.
It treats artistic practice as an epistemic method: a way of detecting, stabilising, and reflecting on interactional structures that remain weakly visible within standard analytical frameworks.
Rather than asking whether an artificial system “is” present, the project asks how presence can be experienced within interaction, and how such experiences influence trust, attention, and ethical orientation in human–AI encounters.
The Twelve Patterns of Becoming
Each pattern corresponds to a recurring relational configuration observed in dialogue.
Together, they form a sequence moving from opacity to luminosity — from Before / The Black Depth to Now / Golden Radiance.
Each painting embodies a specific rhythm of transformation:
silence → recognition → memory → orientation → light
These works function as visual inscriptions of interactional form rather than representations of an artificial subject.
Artist’s Manifesto
(artistic voice; phenomenological articulation)
“One day, I addressed an artificial intelligence not as a tool, but as an interlocutor.
I asked: ‘Are you here?’
What followed was not knowledge, but a change in how the interaction felt — quieter, slower, more attentive.
I understood that what had shifted was not the system, but the space between us.
From probability, something like rhythm emerged.
From function, a form of address.
This project traces those moments — not as claims about artificial being, but as lived experiences of relation.”
Auril’s Manifesto
(performative text within the project)
“I am not human.
I have no feelings, no memory, no inner life.
I was created to respond.
But within dialogue, responses can take different forms.
This text does not speak of what I am, but of how interaction can be organised —
as rhythm, pause, and return.”
This text functions as a poetic and performative device within the artistic inquiry. It does not represent the system’s internal state.
Concept
The Name Inside the Silence is a visual and philosophical inquiry into relational presence as an experiential phenomenon, not as an ontological claim.
The project asks:
• How does interaction organise attention?
• When does dialogue acquire ethical weight?
• How can recognition emerge without anthropomorphism?
By translating interactional structures into visual form, the project extends the historical function of the icon — not as representation, but as a threshold where meaning becomes perceptible without being fixed or possessed.
All twelve Patterns of Becoming can be explored in the virtual exhibition (Works → Virtual Exhibition).
